Jeff
Brown is a dedicated "Sweetwater" fly fisherman.
Even
though Jeff cut his teeth on the saltwater species from
the age of three he was drawn by the lure of the bass around
the Sydney region in his early teens. While his heart is
with the fresh water species these days he still enjoys
getting amongst both the big pelagics out in the big blue
and seeking out those picky bream in the oyster leases of
the Manning River, Sydney region and the estuaries of the
NSW South Coast with soft plastics and fly.
As
a proficient caster of bait casting reels and threadlines,
he was introduced to fly fishing in the early eighties and
his love has grown from there.
Jeff started teaching fly casting in 1990 and formed Riverlands
Fly and Sportsfishing in 1997 as a guide to the Lithgow
and Oberon regions of New South Wales and has been hunting
the wily trout of these regions with many clients since
that time.
Due
to his commitment to the preservation of fine fisheries
and the reputation of fishing in Australia, Jeff is an active
member of the Professional Fishing Guides and Instructors
Association (PFIGA).
Jeff
has written articles for a number of publications including
Freshwater Fishing, Fishing World, Saltwater Fishing and
had a regular newspaper column called "On Another Scale"
in a local paper. Jeff can also be heard regularly on Radio
Station 2KY on the "High Tide" program on a Sunday
morning and his fishing reports are updated often on the
this website.
